Vimian Newsletter vol.1 2026

Written by Ali Tajbakhsh | Feb 4, 2026 4:26:19 PM

Dear colleagues,

It’s been two months since I stepped into the role as CEO, and I wanted to share a few reflections.

First and foremost: thank you. The energy, commitment, and openness I’ve experienced across the group since the announcement have been incredibly motivating. I truly appreciate the support and look forward to continuing to learn from all of you.

During my four years as Head of Veterinary Services, I saw the business evolve from a Northern European purchasing organisation into a global service platform with more than 10,000 member clinics. That journey reinforced what I believe is Vimian’s greatest strength: our ability to attract exceptional talent and entrepreneurs and scale promising ideas into global market leaders.

This entrepreneurial spirit and the quality of our people consistently stand out, something I hear frequently from industry peers and our customers. My role is to support that strength: to remove obstacles, set direction, and ensure we stay true to our purpose of improving animal health through science and technology for better lives.

There is still much to do, and we won’t get everything right every time. But with openness, accountability, and shared ambition, I’m confident we’ll continue to build something we’re proud of and enjoy the journey along the way. 2026 will be a fun year together, we will continue to support the veterinary community with new products and services as well as education – and I am sure we will have the opportunity to welcome some new businesses and colleagues to Vimian.

Next week, I’ll be travelling to Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas and hope to meet some of you there. If not there, I look forward to meeting many more colleagues in the coming months during my travels.

Thank you again for your dedication and the warm support you’ve shown me since my appointment.

Best,

Strengthening employee engagement at INDICAL

Over the past two years, INDICAL has taken a structured approach to strengthening employee engagement, systematically turning feedback from Vimian’s biannual employee survey into action.

While consistently strong results were observed in Development, Inclusion, and Autonomy, other areas – namely Clarity, Value, and Balance – showed room for improvement, leading to the launch of targeted initiatives. These efforts increased the eNPS score by more than 20 points, reaching 30 across the organisation and 50 within the Leadership Team, a top-tier result. INDICAL’s ambition is to reach an overall eNPS of 50, and in the fresh employee survey closed on 12 February 2026 the team reached an eNPS of 43!

"Task flocks"

One standout initiative is the introduction of Task Flocks, cross-functional teams linked directly to INDICAL’s strategic priorities (with “flocks” referencing the way INDICAL colleagues often refer to themselves as flamingos). By connecting strategy to execution, Task Flocks have increased clarity around goals, ownership, and progress, while encouraging collaboration across the organisation.

Appreciation

To strengthen recognition and appreciation, INDICAL has launched a peer-to-peer kudos initiative, enabling colleagues to highlight and celebrate each other’s contributions. More recently, INDICAL also introduced the Flock Awards to recognise outstanding achievements across the company, culminating in an engaging live award ceremony during the Christmas party, where 12 colleagues were recognised.

Meeting clean-up

In addition, INDICAL has streamlined how meetings are run across the organisation by introducing a formal Meeting Etiquette and focusing on fewer but more purposeful meetings with clear agendas and outcomes. The team has also introduced More structured processes for handling urgent and ad-hoc requests were also introduced, helping create better focus and balance in day-to-day work. At the same time, INDICAL has invested in increasing capacity by expanding the team and creating more room to get work done, and investing in training at different levels, ensuring employees have the support and resources needed to succeed.

Together, these efforts have helped create a more focused, transparent, and engaging everyday work environment, demonstrating how employee feedback can truly drive change.

Employee survey - thank you for your participation

Participation reached 98% across the Group, giving us a strong picture of how people experience working at Vimian.

Our eNPS increased to 35, a clear improvement since September, and all experience areas moved in a positive direction. Our strongest areas remain Autonomy (87) and Inclusion (81). The main opportunities for improvement are Clarity (68) and Balance (68).

Over the coming weeks, teams will review their results and agree on actions.

Thank you again for your engagement!

3 questions to Michael Thunell, new CEO VetFamily

We met with Michael, who joined VetFamily in 2018 and was appointed CEO of VetFamily in December 2025.

Who are you?

I’d describe myself as fairly down-to-earthI’m married, have two boys aged 4 and 6, and live ridiculously close to the VetFamily office. I was born and raised just outside Stockholm and have worked in the animal health industry for about 15 years, even though I’m not a vet myself. Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors, whether that’s skiing, sailing, or hiking. I don’t have a pet at the moment, but I’m definitely a dog person.

How can VetFamily accelerate its impact on animal health?

For me, it really comes back to why VetFamily exists in the first place: being the global champion for independent clinics. The veterinary industry is changing fast, and our role is to make sure independent clinics remain competitive by giving them the right tools, services, and support. Our size gives us muscles to invest in new services and enter new markets, but the real must-win is the quality of our relationships with members and the strength of our community. Driving change at clinic level takes trust, and we can only move at the speed of that trust.

What is your most important task as new CEO of VetFamily?

It starts with our people. You’re never done building culture or organization, especially in a company that’s grown as fast as VetFamily. We continuously tweak our structure to delegate more power, keep the organisation flat, and help teams move faster.

Equally important is focus, aligning the organisation around the right priorities and executing well in our markets will be a big theme going into 2026. Finally, we will continue to pursue M&A where it makes strategic sense. As part of Vimian, we have both the capital and the long-term support to take bold steps and grow responsibly.

MedTech education to improve animal health

Education remains a core focus for us to unlock growth and improve medical outcomes and 2025 was another strong year. In MedTech, our teams are helping veterinary professionals build skills in orthopaedics and dentistry through both hands-on and digital learning.

Key figures (2025):

  • Movora held 175 in-person training events with > 2,200 veterinary professionals
  • Movora’s online courses had more than 5,000 enrolments (up from just over 200 two years ago).
  • 150 surgeons from four continents participated in the Total Joint Replacement Symposium in Vienna.
  • iM3 attended 200 wet labs around the world, helping to train nearly 4,500 veterinarians and nurses in veterinary dentistry.

For veterinary clinics, upskilling veterinarians is a way to expand the offering and generate new revenue streams. For Vimian, the educational events translate into sales, and over time higher customer loyalty. All courses are developed with leading specialists to ensure the highest medical standards.

Our focus areas include Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) knee surgeries, one of the most common procedures for restoring mobility in dogs, and Total Hip Replacement (THR), a life-changing solution for animals with severe hip conditions. By supporting veterinarians with hands-on learning and mentorship, we help clinics improve outcomes, expand services, and offer pets a better quality of life.

“The demand for joint replacement procedures has sharply risen over the past years, prompting the need for additional educational opportunities for the new generations of surgeons.”

-- Laurent P. Guiot, Course instructor DVM, DACVS-SA, DECVS

In dentistry, iM3 complements product innovation with post-graduate education and in-clinic training, support veterinary teams deliver better dental care through hands-on learning and trusted equipment.
